Gave up premedical course to become professional pianist. After several years in Chinatown, New York, resorts, became active in original composition; became member professional staff music publishing house. Accompanist for vaudeville artists, in U.S., Europe and Australia during which he pioneered in introduction of rpusic in nigtime idiom. Left vaudeville to carry on music publishing business New York; retired 1930 to reside in California. Awarded gold medal and prize of one thousand rubles; also presented with famous "Gobette" violin by Princess Alten-boursky. Military service: Preobra-jensky Regiment, St. Petersburg, Russia 1911-13 and 1914-17. Assistant to Auer at St. Petersburg Cons. Decorated "Chevalier de Sauveur" after fifteen recitals in Athens. Gave many recitals in Russia; first violinist of Leopold Auer String Quartet. European tour starting at Constantinople with ten concerts. Special appearances before Sultan of Turkey, Sultan of Arabia, King Alexander of Greece and Czar Nicholas II. Tour of Far East, U.S. and Canada. Soloist over N.B.C. and C.B.S. radio networks. Conducted Los Angeles Philh. Orch. First to introduce Auer Schl. of Violin in Philippines; gave course there to teachers in Manila Cons. Returned to New York as solo violinist, teacher and composer.
